About J. Elisabeth Designs

Hi everyone! My name is Jordan Stover and I am a graduate from the Fashion & Textile Technology program at Buffalo State University. My concentration was in apparel design and I was in the Muriel A. Howard Honors Program. I graduated summa cum laude with double honors. While in school, I won awards from multiple fashions shows, completed an internship in London, England and I was featured in a few articles, as well as a national magazine.

I have been sewing since I was about 7 years old. I started by sewing Build-A-Bear clothes, sketching along to Project Runway, and learning everything I could from my amazingly talented grandmother. From there, I worked up to making my own Halloween costumes, semi-formal dresses for school, costumes for theater productions, prom gowns and eventually 6-outfit high fashion collections. I always knew I wanted to be a fashion designer and I am truly grateful I get to do what I love every day.

I have multiple years of alterations & bridal experience from working at David’s Bridal. I have altered gowns and dresses in multiple price ranges and with varied detailing, such as beading and delicate lace applique. I have also created wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses, and special occasion dresses from scratch. I have done hundreds of fittings for all types of gowns throughout my career so far. Wedding gowns & special occasion dresses are a core part of my experience, but there is no section of women’s clothing I haven’t tried my hand at.

I also have multiple years of theater experience. I can safely say I have done almost every job one can within a theater. I have been a prop manager, a stage manager, in the pit band, lead actress, supporting actress, ensemble member, stage crew member, spotlight operator, sound board operator and so much more. This gives me a unique perspective when it comes to costume design. I have had some training in every aspect, allowing for a more well-rounded design outlook. You can find me as the Resident Costume Designer at the Historic Palace Theatre in Lockport, NY currently!

I love to do my research. Most of my designs are historically inspired and finding just the right moment in time to convey my ideas is thrilling. Some other bits of information about me include: I have a working knowledge of French and American Sign Language, a Farnsworth Muncell score of 12, photography experience, hair & makeup experience, and styling skills.

J. Elisabeth Designs is a creative outlet for me as a designer as well as a chance to offer unique tailoring and design services to my local community. I create concept collections and costume designs as well as alterations, custom bridal gowns, prom dresses, and even a simple sundress if that’s what the client wants. The sky is truly the limit for me! Follow me on social media or subscribe to my mailing list to stay up to date with all of my projects. I am always trying something new and hoping to spread inspiration.

I am open to working on almost any project a client has in mind. I love collaborating and challenging myself to create original garments. Alterations are a staple part of my business and I pride myself on having creative solutions to fit issues found in store bought garments. An amazing outfit or a perfect fitting garment always makes you feel good. Everyone deserves the chance to have a favorite outfit that looks great on them no matter their size or body type. Reach out to begin working with me on your project today! -Jordan
